TJ Talks With Dionne Warwick

Yesterday TJ talked in his Grammy Legends series for The Insider with Dionne Warwick.

Growing up in a gospel-music family, music always played an important role in the life of Dionne Warwick.

Dionne’s career started when she sang in the all-girl group, The Gospelaires, with her sister Dee Dee and her Aunt Cissy (mother of Withney Houston). The Gospelaires enjoyed some success and recorded some material.

Her big break came, however, when her sweet, rich vocals came to be heard by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, who recognised her talent and placed her as a solo artist with the Sceptre record label. 33 of her hit records were Bacharach and David songs but she released singles and albums with other labels as well.

Thanks to her timeless songs and over five decades of music-making, she became one of the most-charted female vocalist of all time and won five Grammy Awards.

With the sweet and humble Dionne Warwick. Thank you for your kindness! #GrammyLegends
